The Power of Choice

I love this quote because it speaks such truth!

Have you recently faced a situation or problem where you’ve felt stuck, confused and didn’t know what to do?

For myself, I can think of many times in my life when this has happened. I’ve often felt stuck, scared, fearful when these situations arise. It’s often during these times where my natural instinct to “freeze” kicks in. It’s easy to ignore the situation and hope that it goes away. But we all know that’s usually not what happens.

This is where the Power of Choice comes in … we can choose to focus on the negative or shift our thoughts to all the potential choices we have regarding the situation. Our choice is a catalyst for change. And until we realize that we have choices, we are in “stand still” mode.

It is possible to turn around any situation.

Sounds easy, right?

Ready to take a positive step forward?

So, how do we do this?

Ask yourself,

“What are my choices regarding this situation?”

Then break it down even further with,

“What’s the one next step that I need to take?”

Okay are you ready? Here’s one thing that you can do right now to give it a try …

  • Think about a situation that is troubling you or holding you back.

  • Brainstorm all the choices and possible outcomes you have regarding the situation.

  • Choose how you are going to view the situation (from a place of fear and resistance or of unlimited potential).

  • Decide on the next step.

As Stephen Covey says, “I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.”

By the way, I do realize that not everything in life is controllable and sometimes we don’t get to choose what happens to us. That’s where FAITH comes in. It’s important to trust that every circumstance is preparing us to be our best self. However, we still have the choice about how we respond to the things going on around us. We can focus on the positive or come from a place of fear. When we continue to focus on the negative or staying stuck, we miss out on any potential good that can arise. How do you view your choices?

Be sure to act on your choice. Decisions without actions are worthless.

Make it a great day,
~Jenny
